Welcome to the What we treat page of Footcare & Nails With Verity. Here we provide information on common foot conditions we treat at our salon.

A callus on the feet is a thickened, hardened area of skin that typically develops as a result of repeated friction, pressure, or irritation. Calluses form as the skin's natural defense mechanism against this pressure, often on the soles of the feet, especially on the heels, toes, or the balls of the feet.

Common Causes of Calluses:

  1. Improper Footwear: Shoes that don't fit well (too tight or too loose) can cause friction and lead to callus formation.
  2. Standing for Long Periods: People who stand for extended periods, such as those with jobs that require them to be on their feet all day, can develop calluses.
  3. Walking Barefoot: Walking barefoot on hard surfaces or rough terrain can put pressure on the feet, causing calluses.
  4. High Heels: Wearing high heels frequently can change the way pressure is distributed across the feet, often causing calluses on the toes and balls of the feet.
  5. Repetitive Activities: Sports like running or activities like dancing can create friction on certain parts of the foot, leading to calluses.

If calluses are painful or persist despite home treatment, we are happy to help relieve the discomfort.
